New opportunities
Our new Technology & Innovation Centre opens doors to new areas of research, innovation and technology development, all aimed towards creating new possibilities, new levels of dynamic collaborations and productive outcomes. Together, we'll work on solutions to challenges in enabling technologies and the low carbon economy, including:

Working together
Our new centre will accelerate the way in which researchers in academia and industry collaborate and innovate together, within a new specifically designed state-of the art building in the heart of Glasgow. Our teams will include researchers, engineers and project managers from academia and industry, who will work side-by-side on projects including advanced manufacturing & materials, health & wellbeing, innovation & entrepreneurship, measurement science & enabling technologies and ocean, air & space.
Developed with industry, for industry, the Technology & Innovation Centre has already attracted Scottish and Southern Energy, the Weir Group, Scottish-Power and several other major cross-sectorial industrial companies. By working together both will benefit from participation by large corporations and a large group of innovative SMEs.

Creating jobs and attracting investment
700 new jobs will be created by the Technology & Innovation Centre and Glasgow City Innovation District
The Technology & Innovation Centre and the surrounding Glasgow City Innovation District, are expected to generate 700 new jobs and attract millions of pounds of inward investment to Glasgow.
At £89 million, the project is Strathclyde’s single-biggest investment in our research and technology collaboration capacity. Our innovative approach has attracted financial backing from Scottish Enterprise, the Scottish Funding Council and the European Regional Development Fund who recognise the Technology & Innovation Centre's potential to redefine the way Scottish Higher Education works with industry.
Glasgow City Innovation District
Glasgow City Innovation District is a hub for entrepreneurship, innovation, and collaboration. It builds on Scotland’s rich tradition of scientific excellence and industrial collaboration.
Bringing together ambitious, forward-thinking people, the District is tackling societal and global challenges and driving inclusive economic growth.
Located in the heart of Glasgow City Centre, the District is home to many innovative companies and organisations who've located here to nurture and accelerate growth, improve productivity, and access world-class research and technology from the University.
