Postgraduate study

All the department’s postgraduate programmes offer a holistic learning experience drawing on interdisciplinary expertise from around the Business School. They also focus on developing the soft skills of managing. In this way, our graduates are prepared to enter the world of work as knowledgeable, reflective practitioners.

We offer a range of Masters programmes and a variety of research degrees (PhD/DBA/MPhil/MRes).

MSc Business & Management (MBM)

This programme aims to provide high-potential graduates from disciplines other than general business with the skills and knowledge that will enable them to understand both how organisations work, and how to work in organisations. The course attracts people with a range of backgrounds and nationalities and this variety adds to the richness of class discussions as people examine different organisational practices, and varying responses to organisational problems.

Students can choose two electives which, together with the focus of their final project, is a way to signal their expertise to employers.

MSc Human Resources & International Management

The programme brings together cutting-edge scholarship on global business management and international human resource management to provide a bespoke learning experience tailored to students looking to pursue senior roles that have a strong 'people management' element.

MSc International Management

This high-level specialist programme is designed to provide participants with broad knowledge of the similarities and differences that exist between people and nations and their regulations and institutions, and understandings of the practices and processes of international management.

The programme will equip students with the knowledge and skills required to operate across a range of business functions and organisational settings, both globally and in specific national environments. As well as teaching the concepts of international management, the programme is designed to be practical in focus, emphasising the skills of working, managing and leading in various settings from multinational enterprises to small business in diverse cultural, social, economic and political contexts.

Students will take part in the International Manager Development Programme which develops and 'soft skills' that students will need as future international managers and leaders.

Students can choose to complete two elective classes from a wide range on offer and will also complete a practical project.

MSc International Management & Law

The MSc in International Management & Law is a unique course that will help you to develop the knowledge and skills required by international managers and leaders to operate globally with a solid understanding of various forms of legal regulation.

You'll develop the knowledge, understanding, technical and analytical skills in International Business and Law. This will allow you to work in all organisations where a good knowledge of International Business, Management Practice and Law is required.

MSc Project Management & Innovation

This programme aims to produce graduates with the necessary knowledge and skills to manage complex innovative projects across multiple departments and organisations. Students will leave the programme equipped with the practical knowledge and hard and soft skills demanded by industry and prepared for career opportunities in management and policy-making positions across the private and public sectors.

The programme offers an application-based learning experience which is supported by class discussions, tackles real-life projects in collaboration with industry, and involves team-based activities and industrial placements.

Our teaching and learning methods will prepare students to recognise challenges and opportunities, and develop strategies for change. A wide range of elective classes will be on offer, allowing the development of specialist skills.

MSc Finance & Management

The Departments of Accounting & Finance and Strategy & Organisation have developed this degree to give participants a competitive edge in their future business career. The programme is equally suitable for those embarking on their first professional business role and those with some business experience who are looking to progress their career in a finance and/or management-related role.

The programme offers a thorough grounding in financial and management principles. The course will develop an understanding of how organisations work and the skills needed to operate effectively within them. The technical and analytical skills of finance and management will also be developed. Understanding of both subject areas will be applicable to roles in any organisation.
