Before you start

Your first few weeks at university can be daunting, and we want to make sure you settle into the Business School as quickly and smoothly as possible.

We understand you have lots of questions about starting University and you may find some of them answered here. For postgraduate students, please contact the relevant department with any enquiries.

The term time dates are published by Student Experience & Enhancement Services (SEES). SEES also publish helpful information about exams, although your timetable itself will appear in PEGASUS.

PEGASUS is the University web based communication system. PEGASUS is available on any web-enabled computer whether you're on campus, at home or accessing via a wireless connection in a coffee shop in New York. You can see and amend your personal details, see your current list of classes, receive notification of class test and exam results, and pay your university and accommodation fees.

The address is You'll need your username and DS password, issued with your registration form and you should be able to log on once you have registered.

PEGASUS has an announcement facility used by the university to communicate information to students so you should log on frequently to check announcements. You should go to the IT helpdesk on Level 3 of the Library (Curran Building) with any IT problem. Remember you'll need your student card to get through the security point. A Google calendar is available which allows you to import key term time dates into your personal electronic calendar. There are also calendars available with key dates for each of the first year Business School classes. You'll need to register with Google Calendar to download these calendars.

The Careers Service provides specialist help in finding work placements, internships and employment on completing your degree. They have also constructed specific guidelines on finding a work placement or internship for Business School students during their studies. The University Careers Service is based on Level 6 of Livingstone Tower, and is happy to work with students at any stage of their university career. It offers advice and guidance to help students to identify their career options, to explore ways of achieving their career goals and to improve their job search skills.

Foundation week

During Freshers week (commencing 10 September 2018) you will be invited to the first meeting with the Faculty. At that meeting you will receive a timetable of activities to be undertaken during Freshers week and Week 1.

Strathclyde Business School Foundation Week takes place over week commencing 17 September 2018. There will be orientation activities, introductory lectures and team work projects so that you can get to know the University, the Business School and your fellow students. At the end of week one, when you have had a good opportunity to find out about the subjects we offer within our degree programmes, you'll be asked to pick your subjects for the year.
