Conferencing & Events blogTIC Is Open

We can’t believe it – the day has finally arrived! After being closed for almost 18 months, we’re reopening our doors today (Wednesday 1st September) and we can’t wait!!

We’re very excited to see you all and we hope you’re looking forward to meeting face-to-face again, however, we understand that it will take time to feel comfortable, so we’re starting gradually.

For the first few weeks, we’ll be operating with 1m physical distancing in our conferencing spaces and 2m distancing in place at entry and exit points and corridors. To keep you safe, and in line with Scottish Government guidance, face coverings must be worn in all areas of our venue, including our Conference Rooms and Auditoria. They can be removed for eating and drinking, whether you are seated or standing, so you can enjoy our tasty catering!

We will have a number of safety measures in place for your comfort and wellbeing, including clear signage, one-way routes, a rigorous, regular cleaning schedule and hand sanitiser in foyer spaces, in rooms and at catering service points.

We know you’re all excited about sampling one of our mini quiches again but for the first few weeks, we’re keeping our food and beverage offer simple, either pre-packaged in compostable packaging or served by staff.  Service will be from a designated point in the foyer with clear routes and hand sanitiser available at all times.

At TIC and across the University, we support the Scottish Government’s Test & Protect programme of contact tracing.  Event Organisers should hold a record of attendee names and contact details in advance of each event, retained securely for a minimum of 21 days following the event.

We’re also asking attendees to download the Protect Scotland app to their smart phone or tablet and use the Check In Scotland service to log arrival and departures from the venue.  Check In Scotland QR codes will be available in each Conference Room or event registration desk.

We’ve been busy installing some new features in our Auditoria and Conference Rooms to make sure that you can join your meeting or conference, whether that be in person or virtually. Our fast, free and reliable delegate Wi-Fi makes it easy to connect to a number of available video-conferencing platforms, thanks to the new infrastructure we’ve installed in all of our Conference Rooms. We’ve enhanced the live streaming services in our Auditoria, too.
