StaffUpdate 16 March

Update: 16 March 2020

I emailed on Friday to confirm that a staff Frequently Asked Questions document relating to Coronavirus was available and would be regularly updated in light of changing circumstances.

Over the weekend, the Principal confirmed that face-to-face teaching was suspended and a transition to on-line teaching would ensue. Thank you to those of you who are working hard to support this transition.

In line with other Scottish universities, our Campus remains open. The wellbeing of our staff and students is our number one priority and our actions remain aligned to the guidance from the WHO, the UK and Scottish governments, Public Health Scotland and the NHS.

We aim to minimise the impact of Covid-19 on our student and staff communities. The key message which I would ask you to note at this time is that, whilst we are not currently requiring all staff to work at home, flexibility is available with immediate effect.

For example, staff who are worried about using public transport might speak to their line manager about flexing their start and finish times so as to travel off-peak; staff who are concerned that catching the virus will have a significant impact for them or for a close family member should they subsequently pass it to them, should discuss the possibility of home working with their line manager now.

Additionally, whilst we remain open, we must prepare for the possibility that staff may be advised to work from home. Please read our for further information.

Please be assured that the University is continuously monitoring the changing situation with the Coronavirus outbreak. The Executive Team is now meeting daily and we will continue to communicate with you directly and through your Head of Department/Executive Lead.

Best wishes,

Sandra
