CoronavirusStaff update: 17 December

Dear Colleagues,

As this is my final message of 2020, I have a very simple sentiment to convey – thanks to each and every one of you for all you’ve done as a valued member of the Strathclyde family.

In what has been the most challenging year the University has experienced in living memory, it has been your efforts, commitment, skills and experience that have allowed us to keep safe, to adapt and innovate and ultimately to thrive and plan for the future.

This year has shown us all just what we are capable of as Strathclyders, it has also reinforced our shared purpose in delivering high-quality education, research and impact.  I have never been prouder to be part of this community and to have the privilege of leading this wonderful institution.

Time and time again we have shown what it means to go the extra mile, to care deeply for our students and our colleagues, to demonstrate the authenticity of our Values and to focus on the ‘art of the possible’ as we’ve worked and solved problems together.

Over the past few weeks, I have shared a presentation with Court and our Leadership Group detailing the scope of work undertaken across the University, the strong progress we have made in recent years, and the quality of our academic endeavours and financial performance.

Our Deans, Directors and Heads of Departments and Schools will be sharing this detail with you in the New Year. Our progress this year should give us all confidence, and a sense of pride, as we look forward to delivering Vision 2025.

Strathclyde is a fantastic University and it is you who make it what it is. We have produced a short film to sum up 2020 at Strathclyde and to remind us all what we have been doing in a year we will never forget.

I hope you have a restful and enjoyable Christmas & New Year break and that you can ‘recharge’ in advance of a more promising 2021 as we take Strathclyde forward into the next phase of our journey.

Once again, many thanks for all you do

Best wishes,

Jim
