Dear Strathclyde Student,
On Friday evening (15th Jan 2021, 17:00 GMT), Westminster and Scottish Governments released updated guidance on international travel and quarantine. The revised Scottish Government guidance is available here.
For international students intending to travel in the coming days, please note:
- If you are arriving in Scotland before 4am on 18th January 2021, you are under no legal obligation to get a test before you travel. You should not be denied boarding for failing to provide proof of a negative test result, and will not be fined on arrival into Scotland.
- From 4am on 18th January 2021, if you do not present proof of a negative test result, you will not be able to board unless you have a valid reason and could be fined £480 on arrival into Scotland. You will also be required to self-isolate for 10 days regardless of where you have travelled from.
From 4am on Monday 18th January all country exemptions (sometimes referred to as Travel Corridors) will be suspended until further notice. The Scottish Government news release advising of this change is available here. Details on exemptions are available here.
For students who have already booked travel, guidance on self-isolation requirements is available here. If you have not already booked your travel, please delay booking.
If you have booked your travel for this weekend and are returning to campus for essential on-campus teaching or wellbeing reasons, please contact us to book a COVID-19 test.
We appreciate that during this evolving situation, you may have concerns or worries; if this is the case, please do contact us on student.helpdesk@strath.ac.uk We are here to help. You can also find wellbeing advice and support on our website.
Please take care and stay safe.
Best wishes,
Jim
