Update from the Principal: Semester 2 Formal Assessment Period

Dear Strathclyde student,

I hope you are keeping well and are managing to enjoy some down time in the breaks from your studies.

I am writing to confirm that:

  • As planned, the Semester 2 Formal Assessment Period will be proceeding for all levels of study between 19th April and 21st May 2021;
  • For the majority of our students, formal assessments will be taking place online.

Your School or Department will be sharing details with you on the plans and expectations for your formal assessment by Wednesday 10th March.  Please take the time to review these details to help ensure that you feel well prepared and confident about the arrangements going into the formal assessment period.  Your module and programme leaders will be able to answer any specific questions you may have regarding your online assessments.

We will also be updating our FAQs to help you prepare for the Semester 2 formal assessment period. These will be published at: https://www.strath.ac.uk/coronavirus/students/formalassessmentperiod/ and will include links to study tips and guidance to help you prepare.

In addition, while the ongoing restrictions of the current lockdown presents challenges for us all, we understand that for some of you this may be taking place in an environment which is not ideal, including added challenges around caring responsibilities, home schooling, issues related to IT equipment and connectivity etc.  As with arrangements in Semester 1, we will be seeking your feedback on your home study environment and, depending upon the Scottish Government guidance at the time, we shall put in place support for essential on-campus study space where required.

In the meantime, please do take the time to focus on your wellbeing and that of those around you.  Our wellbeing and advice pages contain a wealth of support and guidance, including five steps to wellbeing.

Please take care and stay safe.

Best wishes,

Jim
