Maria del Carmen Bocanegra-Yanez

Maria graduated in 2014 with an MSc Sustainable Engineering: Renewable Energy Systems and the Environment from Strathclyde's Department of Mechanical & Aerospace´╗┐ Engineering.

Where do you come from? What did you study previously and at which institution?

I come from Spain and I studied Industrial Engineering at the University of Malaga.´╗┐

Why did you choose Strathclyde?´╗┐

It is one of the most outstanding universities in the UK in the engineering sector with the largest engineering Faculty in Scotland.

Did you receive a scholarship?

I am one of the recipients of the Iberdrola Foundation Scholarship 2013-2014.

What are you enjoying most about the programme?

I have enjoyed the Sustainable Engineering: Renewable Energy Systems and the Environment programme because it is very well organised with a good diversity of technological background in different energy resources and energy efficiency, and teaches you how to work as part of a group having a strong link with the industry.

What are your plans after graduation?

After my graduation I have continued my studies at Strathclyde starting a PhD in the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering which brings a great opportunity to develop my skills further. I was awarded a University scholarship to pursue my PhD.

What do you like about Glasgow?

Glasgow is a great place to live since it is a very lively city. There are plenty of activities you can do like shopping, visiting museums, parks, going for a walk or dance ceilidh! Furthermore, hiking at weekends is a great opportunity to discover Scotland’s amazing countryside.
