Aaron Clark found his ideal course to suit his love of pharmacy at Strathclyde. Find out below how he has found studying here so far.

Tell us a bit about your background and what led to you studying at Strathclyde?

Growing up, I always wanted to do something in the science field. This, coupled with my desire to help people resulted in me seeking part-time employment in a community pharmacy whilst at secondary school. It was here that I fell in love with Pharmacy and what led me to Strathclyde.

Why did you decide to study at Strathclyde?

Strathclyde is a fantastic university to study at and after attending open days whilst applying, I realised this. The staff and students were very welcoming and ultimately it was the people here and the location that helped me to decide Strathclyde was for me.

What has been the highlight of your course?

The highlight of my course has to be the experiential learning opportunities provided, especially the hospital-based ones.

How do you find studying in Glasgow?

Studying in Glasgow is great! Glasgow is a very vibrant city with a unique atmosphere. There are loads to do and most places also offer student discounts.

What advice would you give to someone looking to study here?

Do it. Studying at Strathclyde will be the best decision you ever make.

What has been your main challenges?

Adjusting to the workload was a challenge at the start, however, the staff are always helpful and are happy to point you in the right direction.

What are your ambitions for the future?

I would like to get a position as a Hospital Pharmacist after Pre-Reg and would love to eventually complete my Independent Prescribing Course.

What specialist knowledge/professional skills have you developed studying your course?

The “Being a Pharmacist” classes are great at preparing students for the real world, ensuring that we all have the knowledge we require to practice as pharmacists in the future.

What’s the best thing about studying at Strathclyde?

Strathclyde provides a great learning platform, with very knowledgeable staff.  Everyone is so supportive and there is a great atmosphere at the university.

How is your course helping to enhance your current career and prepare you for your future career?

My course is preparing me for my future career by bringing real-life examples into the classes. Reading textbooks is not how I learn, and the practical classes are great at providing a good knowledge base.
