Offshore Renewable Energy

main content

IDCORE (Industrial Doctoral Centre in Offshore Renewable Energy) is based within the UK's leading offshore energy research Universities and Institutes. University of Strathclyde partners the Universities of Edinburgh and Exeter, and the Scottish Association for Marine Sciences (SAMS) and HR Wallingford.

The IDCORE programme will train world-class industrially-focussed research engineers who, with the help of sponsoring companies, will accelerate the deployment of offshore wind, wave and tidal-current technologies in order to meet the UK's ambitious offshore renewable energy targets.

IDCORE students will be primarily based within a sponsoring company, spending around 75% of time there, following a 4 year programme leading to the award of an Engineering Doctorate (EngD). Much of the first year is based in Edinburgh and Glasgow, and engineers will be located at a sponsoring company for the subsequent years.

Potential applicants should be able to demonstrate enthusiasm, resourcefulness, a mature approach to learning, creativity and a sound understanding of one or more branches of science or engineering.
