MSc Urban Design and PhD Architecture
Why country did you come from to study at Strathclyde?
Why did you choose to study at Strathclyde?
I was looking to study urban design and architecture in an international setting. Strathclyde in particular interested me because of its strong
What did you like about the course?
The course was just as intensive and rigorous as you would expect a one year master’s course to be. However, the professors and lecturers were very good at recognising that different students have different needs, and were extremely flexible both with their time and their feedback.
What else did you like about your time at Strathclyde?
Strathclyde is a great university and a great experience for those that are willing to work at it. Few other places can be so rewarding if you are willing to put in the effort. Strathclyde is the ultimate what you make of it experience.
What do you think about Scotland/Glasgow?
Glasgow, Scotland, and the UK are excellent.
The people are extremely welcoming and very lively. As a city Glasgow is wonderfully cosmopolitan for Scotland, yet still a small enough city that it is entirely walkable.
What did you do in your spare time?
My spare time is filled with travelling, enjoying Glasgow, and trying to enjoy days out with my family. Scotland has everything to offer except for the weather. The weather is not all bad though, when it is truly warm and sunny out, the entire city embraces it unlike any other place in the world.
What funding opportunities (if any) were available to you?
I benefited from a small scholarship for my MSc studies, and had to supplement with United States Federal Student Loans. However my PhD studies are being funded by the Architecture Department and the Faculty of Engineering - further proof that Strathclyde is indeed what you make it.
Would you recommend Strathclyde to other people?
Of course! Strathclyde is a great university, in a great city with great opportunities. It is not the place for the unmotivated, but for a student that is looking to proactively better themselves, there is no better place.
