Scholarships

We've a number of funding options available for both UK and International students.

Postgraduate awards

Commonwealth Distance Learning Scholarships

We are pleased to offer these prestigious scholarships to 5 well-qualified applicants from an eligible Commonweatlh country: Bangladesh, Cameroon, Eswatini, The Gambia, Ghana, Guyana, India, Kenya, Kiribati, Lesotho, Malawi, Mozambique, Nigeria, Pakistan, Papua New Guinea, Rwanda, Samoa, Sierra Leone, Solomon Islands, Sri Lanka, Tanzania, Tuvalu, Uganda, Vanuatu and Zambia. 

These scholarships are only available for applicants to the MSc in Prosthetic/Orthotic Rehabilitation Studies and MSc in Rehabilitation Studies for programmes beginning in September 2020.

Eligibility:

  • Be a citizen or be granted a refugee status from an elegible Commonwealth country, or be a British Protected Person;
  • be permanently and continually resident in an elegible Commonwealth country;
  • hold a first degree of at least upper second class (2:1) standard (or equivalent) - a lower qualification and sufficient relevant experience may be considered.

To apply you must:

1. Apply and hold an offer for the programme from the University of Strathclyde to start the MSc in the 2020 academic year;

and

2. Apply for the scholarship through the Commonwealth Scholarship website  (available from the 24th of February until the 6th of April, 2020).

Recipients of this award will benefit from full-payment of all course fees for the three year programme. 

 Any applicants who does not apply to both systems by the 6th of April 2020 will not be considered. 

 

Biomedical Engineering Celebration Awards for India

Applications are invited from well-qualified applicants from India who are entering any of the department’s taught postgraduate programmes in September 2020. The value of each award is £6,000.

To apply please send an email to valerie.carlaw@strath.ac.uk explaining why you want to study Biomedical Engineering and why you deserve the award. All applications will be considered by the Course Director.

The final submission date for applications is the 31st July 2020. You'll be advised of the outcome of your application in August 2020.

International Excellence Awards

We're pleased to offer this prestigious scholarship to four well-qualified overseas applicants to the MSc & MRes Biomedical Engineering courses and the P&O MSc course.

Recipients of this award will benefit from up to £4,000 towards their fees on arrival at the University.

The award is competitive and successful recipients will be notified at the beginning of term.

Biomedical Engineering China-Scotland Friendship Award

Applicants from China applying for the MSc Biomedical Engineering course and the P&O MSc course are eligible for this award. There's one award given each year. Recipients will benefit from £4,000 towards tuition fees on registration.

This is a competitive scholarship awarded to a very well-qualified applicant.

The successful student will be notified at the beginning of term.

Applicants from Malaysia applying for the MSc Biomedical Engineering and P&O course are eligible for this award. There's one award given each year. Recipients will benefit from £4,000 towards tuition fees on registration.

This is a competitive scholarship awarded to a very well qualified applicant. The successful student will be notified at the beginning of term.

The Biomedical Engineering Overseas Awards

We offer one award of £4,000 off the fees on each of 5 years (4 years for BEng) for an outstanding applicant to the MEng/BEng degree in Biomedical Engineering.

This is a competitive award and has to be applied for. Applications close on 31st July 2020
