Headstart is a well established education programme run by the Engineering Development Trust (EDT), currently delivered in 30 institutions throughout the UK.
It provides students who will soon be applying to university with an opportunity to experience life as an undergraduate student by living and working at university.
The programme gives participants an opportunity to find out more about the different engineering subjects on offer at university, opening their eyes to the wide choice of subjects that they may not have known existed. It allows pupils to experience student life, as they stay in the student accommodation on campus, and gives them a taster of what it would be like to study engineering at university.
Challenging and action-packed programmeIt offers project-based activities across many engineering areas
Headstart at Strathclyde offers a challenging and action-packed programme with a range of activities run by four of our engineering departments. The course focuses on project-based activities across a wide range of engineering areas with an emphasis on hands-on problem-solving in teams. You will also be given the opportunity to visit one of our industry partners and speak with recent graduates about their own time at university.
Headstart is now in its 15th year at Strathclyde. Over 500 pupils have attended our Headstart programme over the years, and we are glad to have had a hand in helping them to make the important decision of what to do following their school studies.
