Ethical permissions: guidance and support for researchers and ethics committees

Online or in-person (on or off-campus)

Preparing ethical permission applications can be overwhelming for some researchers. Dr Wendy Cohen and Dr Susan Rasmussen have significant expertise with NHS, University and third sector ethical approval committees.

They offer everything from short sessions (online one-hour webinars) on how to think about ethical permissions from the very beginning of your project idea, to half-day workshops exploring ethical issues in research and how to work within an ethical framework.  The focus of the sessions is to help researchers to encourage a mindset towards a robust ethics culture and to build confidence in researchers to recognise the value of the ethics process from the outset. We also offer training for ethics committee members on specific issues such as ethics concerns arising from working with potentially vulnerable individuals.
