PGDE Secondary Education: Computing Science

What inspired you to apply to Strathclyde?

Strathclyde’s PGDE (computing) is one of the well-rewarded courses. The university is centrally located in Glasgow and has a wonderful policy of diversity, inclusion and equal opportunity. My husband is an Alumni of Strathclyde and I had heard lots of praises about the university.

What was it about your course that motivated you to apply for it?

I was teaching in India before arriving in to Scotland. To teach here I needed a teacher training course which is the PGDE route. It is an excellent experience to observe and teach in schools during the course and a student gets an amazing exposure before becoming a registered teacher in Scotland.

What have you enjoyed the most so far about your time in Scotland/ Strathclyde?

The best time I had was during my school placement one during the PGDE course. The feedback from students and the department in the school was highly encouraging and gave me an immense satisfaction. I am grateful to the Lord who helped me choose the right path.

What are your ambitions for the future? How do you think your postgraduate degree, and your time at Strathclyde, will help you achieve your goals?

My ambition for the future is to teach Computing in Secondary schools in Scotland. Strathclyde provides me with school placements during the course which will enable me to demonstrate my teaching skills in schools and to become a registered teacher in General Teaching Council in Scotland. I hope to take advantage of the resources available in the library as they are praise worthy.
