SCCJR PhD Residential Event
The SCCJR is holding a residential event for June 19-20 at Stirling Court Hotel. The event is PhD led and organised and aimed at allowing PhDs to meet each other, learn about each other’s work, engage in practical and intellectual sessions and meet SCCJR academic staff.
This will be an ideal opportunity to bring together SCCJR students and staff from across Scotland in a dedicated social and informative event.
Sessions will include student presentations and workshops (call for these to be issued soon) across various stages of studies, and offer the opportunity to engage with the work of other members of SCCJR. It will also include informative, practical and useful sessions for engaging with criminology in a changing global and academic environment, including on theory, activism, and the future of SCCJR.
Practical sessions include workshops on viva preparation as part of the entire PhD process (not only a third/fourth year endeavour), as well as tips and advice on presenting and publishing.
The event is open to SCCJR PhD students (including those doing 1+3 degrees and in or about to embark on their 1+ year). Attendees may attend one or both days.
Those attending both days will have accommodation costs covered. However, spaces are limited, so please rsvp to firstname.lastname@example.org to note which or both days you will attend and whether accommodation is required. Student travel costs (reasonable and based on lowest possible fares) will be covered by SCCJR.
Staff interested in attending and/or presenting, please email email@example.com. We very much hope for good staff turnout.
