Health and Safety Information

When deploying any technology, including radio-based devices, the health and safety of staff, students and the general public must be of paramount importance.

In the UK, control of exposure to non-ionising radiation in the workplace (as emitted by wireless networking equipment) is governed through the provisions of the Health and Safety at Work Etc. Act 1974 and the Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations 1999.

In general, according to NRPB and the Wi-Fi Alliance, wireless LAN (WLAN) networks do not appear to provide a cause for concern regarding health when complying with the above guidelines.

All of the wireless equipment which has been deployed by Information Services conforms with the current ICNIRP guidelines, and is CE approved. This CE approval is a declaration by the manufacturer that the product satisfies all relevant EU legislation. We adhere to the "best practice" guidelines when carrying out installation work.
