Welcome to the University of Strathclyde's Learning and Teaching page. At Strathclyde we are committed to providing a learning experience characterised by continued innovation in an environment that is intellectually stimulating.

We have an ambitious strategy for education, focused on developing our students' ability to think for themselves, to reflect critically on their experiences and to be self reliant.  We encourage our students to become involved in all aspects of the learning experience - from being co-creators of their own curriculum to representing views of their peers in relation to the quality of their course.

For staff and current students, information on our current strategic projects can be accessed on the Education Portal.

As the place of useful learning our curriculum is innovative, radical and practical and students at all levels benefit from experiences in industry, business and the voluntary and public sectors.  The internationally excellent research, undertaken in collaboration in partners across the world, directly informs the development of our curriculum and students can benefit from working alongside colleagues from different subject disciplines and at different levels of study.

The innovative programme of Vertically- Integrated Projects, recently launched at Strathclyde and first of its kind in the UK, provides just one example of this in action.  Watch our VIP video for more information.

The University has recently launched the Learning Enhancement Framework – an approach that enables us to provide support for our staff to be more effective educators, our students to be more effective learners and our curriculum to deliver a distinctive learning experience. The Framework brings together three areas of activity – curriculum enhancement, academic professional development and learning support for study skills – under one umbrella, with resources from across Professional Services and academic Departments, Schools and Faculties working together to enhance the learning experience. Showcasing areas of good practice will be one strand of the Framework, along with funding for innovative projects focused on learning enhancement. More information is available for Strathclyde staff and students on the Education Portal.

Our recent showcase event, Education @ Strathclyde, presented the opportunity for staff and students to work together to bid for pump-prime funding for projects to enhance co-curricular development, in a Dragons’ Den style event. Watch the Dragons' Den video for more information.

The uses of technology is a key facet of our Education Strategy, informing and enhancing our delivery of courses and assessments. We use technology in different ways but all approaches are built around our online teaching and learning platform, MyPlace, through which all of our students can access vital information their courses and about succeeding at Strathclyde. Further information on developments and support in this area can be found on the Learning Technology Enhancement webpages.
