International Pronouns Day
Wednesday 21 October 2020

International Pronouns Day seeks to make respecting, sharing, and educating about personal pronouns commonplace.

Referring to people by the pronouns they determine for themselves is basic to human dignity. Being referred to by the wrong pronouns particularly affects transgender and gender nonconforming people. Together, we can transform society to celebrate people’s multiple, intersecting identities.

Take part by using the #StrathLife #PronounsDay hashtags on October 21st to show your support.

To further raise awareness and show your support, you could also add your pronouns to your Zoom display name, email signature and business card, start introducing yourself with your name and pronouns, or consider how you can include more non-binary language in your activities. You can make a difference!

October 2020 - Black History Month

Throughout October, we celebrate Black History Month.

The University of Strathclyde is a socially progressive institution which recognises the potential, talents and contribution of all people regardless of age, disability, gender reassignment, sex, race, religion or belief, sexual orientation, marriage and civil partnership and pregnancy and maternity (and paternity).

Find out more about race equality at Strathclyde, Black History Month events, relevant resources and research.

The University’s Race Equality Working group will be coordinating themed focus groups this semester, consulting staff and students on priority race equality actions. Watch out for information on how to sign up.
