Responsible for all personnel and employment matters in respect of academic, academic-related, research, technical, secretarial and manual staff including development of employment policy through Staff Committee and Court having regard to the following issues: employment law, employment contracts and records, manpower planning and statistics, recruitment selection, staff appraisal, development and training, reward strategies, conditions of employment, performance reviews, collective bargaining, employee welfare, discipline and severance. Initiates, develops and maintains procedures to give effect to employment policy, aims and objectives.
Advises Court, Staff Committee, Investing in People's Development, Equal Opportunities and Staff Well-Being Groups, The University Management Group, University Management Secretariat, Joint Negotiating and Consultative Committees, Senior Officers, Deans and Heads of Department as necessary. Deputises for the Secretary to the University as required.
