The Cisco VPN Client Software gives you the ability to create a secure network connection from off campus through your chosen Internet Service Provider(ISP) to the campus network.

What does this software do?


Cisco is used to connect securely to a virtual private network over the internet.


Can you explain in more detail?

If you simply want to browse the internet from off campus and don't require access to resources on campus e.g. to access data on departmental servcers, then you don't require to install and use the VPN software.

Licence Details :

The VPN client software is loaned to you for the purpose of installing the software on a single computer, the installed program being for your exclusive personal use, for the sole purpose of accessing approved services and resources on Strathclyde University's academic data network in the course of your work.
You may not make additional copies of the software, and you are obliged to ensure that no other person does or attempts to do so.
Other than running the installed program, all other operations on it or the installation files are prohibited e.g. reverse engineering, decompilation, etc.

Available to registered students and staff.

Personal Licence : Not applicable
