Personalised Timetables

Personalised timetables will become available to students from mid September 2019 both via the Strathclyde App and via Myplace. In order to see your personal timetable, you must have fully registered, chosen your curriculum and have had your curriculum approved by your year advisor.

Personal timetables will normally show any full-class activities, such as lectures.  Timetables for any group activities (e.g. labs or tutorials) will be communicated to you via your department.

If you have trouble accessing your personal timetable, take a look at the most common FAQs, below, which may help.

If you have any questions relating to your curriculum, or any questions about your timetable, you should contact your department in the first instance.

Frequently asked timetabling questions

Why is my timetable not showing on MyPlace or on the App?

Before you see your personalised timetable, you must have:

  1. Completed registration;
  2. Had your class choices approved by your Department/Advisor of studies;
  3. Been allocated to your chosen classes by your Departmental Timetabling Co-ordinator.

Once you have completed registration, it may a few days for your individual timetable to become available.  If you still can’t see your lectures, 5-working days after you register, contact your department in the first instance.

Why am I missing some activities?

If you have recently changed your class choices, it may take a few days for the changes to be reflected on your individual timetable.  In the meantime, you can view the timetables for individual classes online.

Note that some teaching activities (e.g. tutorials and labs) may not appear on your individual timetable.  Your department/school should have informed you of the details of these activities through other means.  If you think your activities are missing, contact your department in the first instance.

I can't see any of my activities on the App

If you have multiple accounts, make sure you are logged in to the account that has the timetable you want to view.

To check which account you have logged into, tap on the avatar at the top left of the home page. You can switch between accounts at any time.

I have changed classes – why are my old classes still showing?

If you have recently changed your class choices, it may take a few days for the changes to be reflected on your individual timetable.  In the meantime, you can view the timetables for individual classes online.

Why can I see my timetable on the App but not on Myplace?

If you have undertaken any summer activities (e.g. STEM Summer School, pre-sessional English) or you are studying via distance learning, your current registration may overlap with your subsequent programme of studies.  As a result, Myplace is not able to display your timetable until the summer course terminates and your 2019-20 student record is activated.

As the App allows you to select which registration is active, it is able to display your personalised timetable in these cases.

If you have not undertaken a summer school course, you should contact the helpdesk.

Why does my friend on the same course/class have a timetable and I don’t?

Once you register, it can take a few days for your individual timetable to be updated.  In the meantime, you can find your classes online by programme or by individual class.

My timetables tells me the building and room, but I don’t know where to go?

A campus map, including walking directions and virtual tour is available on the maps page.

What do I do if I arrive at the teaching room and there is no-one there?

Room allocations are subject to change.  Please check your timetable and Myplace for notification of changes to rooms/classes.

If you are in the right place at the right time, you should contact your Department in case there has been a last minute change to the class.

I have adjacent activities on my timetable, how am I meant to get to the second one on time?

As set out in the Timetabling Policy "Teaching starts at 5 minutes past the hour and ends at 5 minutes to the hour", this gives you time to move on to your next class.

Why aren’t my tutorials/seminars/workshops on my timetable?

As you may have been pre-allocated a lab or tutorial group (managed by your Department), you may not see all of your teaching activities on your individual timetable.  Your department/subject area should have informed you of the details of these activities separately and you should contact them with any queries.

Note that if you have recently changed your class choices, it may take a few days for the change to be reflected on your personal timetable.

How will I know if the room or time has changed?

Room allocations and class times are subject to change.  Please check your timetable and Myplace for notification of changes to rooms/classes.

My curriculum hasn’t been approved yet, how do I know where and when my classes are?

You can have a look at the timetables for a specific programme or individual class.  Instructions for using the programme/class search area is available here.
