UK and World League Tables and Rankings

The Strategy and Policy Directorate is the main contact point for verification and provision of data used by league table compilers, and for internal queries relating to analysis of league table position.  Detailed information on individual league tables is available for members of staff on the Strategy and Policy SharePoint Portal.

HESA Performance Indicators (PIs)

HESA’s Performance Indicators provide comparative data on the performance of UK institutions in relation to widening participation (state schools/low social classes), student retention, research output and employment of graduates.

Management Information Profiles (MIPs)

Refreshed annually by Strategy and Policy using internal and external data, the MIPs present 3-year timeseries figures for a wide-ranging set of data items and indicators, such as UCAS tariff points, retention rates, CPD income and space occupied. We publish the MIPs on SharePoint at University-level and by Faculty/Department.

The Higher Education Information Database for Institutions (HEIDI), run by the Higher Education Statistics Agency (HESA), is a web-based management information service that provides easy access to a wide range of quantitative data about higher education. This is the key source for comparative data for UK institutions. Please get in touch if you are a member of staff who would like access to HEIDI or advice on its use.
