This project aims to validate and evaluate a fitness app.
The app is based on the six-minute walk test often used with cardiac patients, and measures the distance walked in 6 minutes. It has the potential to be used with surgical patients to assess pre-surgery fitness and monitor recovery post-surgery based on self-assessment. This can help the clinician identify patients at risk for poor outcomes post-surgery and promote physical activity in this patient group to improve outcomes.
This project will be in collaboration with the University of the Highlands and Islands, the NHS Lanarkshire and NHS Highlands.
