History Peace, conflict & identity in the modern world

This is the largest theme in the Department of History, according to the number of staff involved, and is a rapidly growing area of research at Strathclyde. Staff are interested in both conflict and peace at the international, state and local levels and also on the impact of conflict on individuals' bodies, mental states and memories.

Our work with business & organisations

Historians working on the peace, conflict and identity strand have participated in a number of high-profile public engagement and knowledge exchange initiatives, and have more such projects planned for the coming years, as we mark the centenary of the First World War. Events include:
