As the University’s Fire Safety Adviser, Wes is responsible for undertaking fire safety risk assessments, arranging bi-annual fire evacuation drills, delivery of fire safety related training, investigating and reporting on all incidents involving fire, and providing advice and guidance on all fire safety related matters.
He liaises regularly with Departmental Fire Safety Coordinators and staff to help further improve the fire safety culture of the organisation in order to reduce the risk of fires. He works closely with Estates Services on a variety of subjects and is in close contact with the Scottish Fire & Rescue Service to ensure the application of best practice.
