The SIPBS Doctorate@Work Scheme enables existing external employees to undertake PhD study, directly aligned to their company’s research needs. The employee remains fully within the company but is registered as a University PhD student. He/she receives direct confidential project-specific academic support and a self-tailored programme of researcher skills development. This distinct collaborative scheme, built on a previously successful programme of excellence with a major industrial partner, allows companies to elevate staff training and company project engagement with the benefit of academic input and industrial co-supervision. A written agreement at the outset defines IP protection and the only fees payable are for tuition.
