My 24 years as a fire fighter (in both the Royal Air Force and the Local Authority Fire and Rescues Service) was followed by a 3 year post as a fire safety consultant before taking up my current post here at the University of Strathclyde. I am currently Chair of the USHA (Fire) Scotland Group. This group consists of Fire safety Advisers and Managers from other Scottish Universities in order that we discuss and support new developments, initiatives and ideas in the relevant to the HE sector. My main roles here at the UoS include carrying out fire risk assessments, delivery of fire safety related training, as well as always being available to provide guidance and advice on all fire safety matters. This can be done over the phone, via email, or I cam more than happy to meet up on site if appropriate.
