Personal statement
I joined the university in 2018, having previously been a Senior Lecturer at ICAS (Institute of Chartered Accountants of Scotland). My primary teaching interests are in Financial Reporting and Ethics, and I have a strong research interest in accounting education, and the development of accountants within the profession.
I have worked in Africa and maintain a keen research interest in the development of the accounting profession in the developing world.
I maintain strong links with various professional bodies and have acted as an external examiner and advisor to both professional bodies and universities.
My teaching includes a number of core modules at both undergraduate and PGT level. A particular interest of mine is encorouging students to consider the decisions which professional accountants need to follow - particularly with regards to ethics and sustainability. Outside of direct teaching I also act as honours course director for accounting.
