Personal statement
I am a Repository Manager & Technologist at the University of Strathclyde. I maintain, administer and develop Strathclyde's repository systems, support colleagues in the delivery our Current Research Information System (CRIS) and generally support institutional activities in the areas of research discovery, Open Access and digital scholarship. I am part of the Scholarly Publications & Research Data (SPRD) team working in the area of digital repositories, research data management and Open Access. Prior to my current role I worked as a Project Evaluator and Business Analyst on the JISC funded Principles in Patterns (PiP) project and, before that, as a Lecturer in Information Management & Systems at Liverpool John Moores University. There I lectured in the broad areas of information retrieval, structured data, and information architecture, and developed research interests in distributed digital repositories and Semantic Web technologies. I also developed a peripheral interest in learning technology and e-pedagogy during this time. In the more distant past I was a Research Assistant and then Research Fellow based at the Centre for Digital Library Research in the Department of Computer and Information Sciences, University of Strathclyde, working principally on distributed digital repositories and structured data.
