Personal statement

Dr Farzad Rahimian is a Senior Lecturer (Associate Professor) in Building Information Management, with expertise in the mainstream areas of BIM, including IT Integrated Design and Construction, Virtual-Reality Programming for Automation, Simulation and Optimisation of Design, Offsite-Manufactured-Construction, and Virtual Prototyping. He has extensive experience in VR/AR programming and prototyping, and was a key player on one the first and most famous game-like VR Environments for construction simulation. 

Farzad holds PhD degree in IT Integrated Architectural Design Studies and MSc and BSc in Architectural Engineering. He is a Fellow of Higher Education Academy (FHEA), Member of Chartered Institute of Building (MCIOB), Member of Regulatory Room of buildingSMART International, a First Class Registered Architect in Iran and member of CIB TG74, W119, and W121. He has considerable research and practice experience in BIM and IT Integrated Construction and Design (reported in more than 85 refereed articles; Cited in more than 250 publications). Farzad has been involved in supervision of several PhD studies. He is the Co-Editor of the International Journal of Architectural Research (MIT) and has been involved in various high-level committees. During his academic career, he contributed to various publicly funded research projects, on issues regarding BIM, Deign Integration and Advanced Methods of Construction.
