Teaching

My teaching pedagogy is engaging and interactive, including lots of class discussions and debates. I strive to include a good balance between practical examples from industry and theory.

I am a class coordinator for a number of UG and PG courses such as Contemporary Issues in Management, Business Research Methods, Business Strategy. I am interested in supervising students working on topics around Strategic Adaptation, Survival, Organisational change, Capability Development and Sustainability .

Research interests

Veselina’s research interest centers on issues of organisational change, strategic development and adaptation during times of uncertainty and complexity (e.g. financial crises, changing political or market landscapes). Her approach to research is processual. It is driven by a personal curiosity to find out how organisational practices and processes evolve, settle and change by focusing on their constituting micro-foundations.

In the last four years, Dr Stoyanova has been closely engaged with the financial industry in the UK and major international banks such as the Royal Bank of Scotland Group (RBS). Her research in the banking sector has examined RBS strategic journey of renewing their legitimacy with diverse groups of stakeholders and re-focusing their business model into a more sustainable one, requiring change and development in the company’s operational routines and capabilities. Veselina has also researched and published works in the field of sustainability in emerging markets in particular looking at the evolution of sustainability in SMEs in the wine industry in Bulgaria and the role sustainable practices have on companies’ competitiveness.

Veselina is passionate for producing research which is impactful and engaging, stimulating knowledge and open discussions not only within the academic context but also outside, within the wider community.
