Personal statement

Mr Hunter is responsible for chairing the meetings of Court and ensuring the Court understands its role and responsibilities.

After serving as a member of Court for 7 years, Mr Hunter was appointed Convener of Court in August 2012 – taking over the reins from Fraser Livingston.

Mr Hunter was born in 1955 and brought up in Glasgow. He studied at the University of Strathclyde where he gained a BA in Accountancy & Marketing in 1975. On leaving university he joined Arthur Young (now Ernst & Young) where he undertook his CA training, qualifying in 1978. He joined The Edrington Group (then Robertson and Baxter) in 1981 and was Group Finance Director from 1994 until his retirement in 2014.

Mr Hunter was a Trustee of The Robertson Trust, a member of the Group of Scottish Finance Directors and was a governor of The High School of Glasgow.

He lives in Killearn with his wife Christine, who is a Doctor, and they have three grown up children - Louise, Emma and Andrew who are currently either working or studying in various locations around the world. His hobbies are sailing, fishing and golf.
