Strathclyde SportCOVID-19 Membership update

NB.  If you are due a pro-rata refund on your 2019/20 membership, please check the e-mail inbox for the account detailed on your Strathclyde Sport member record.  We are requesting necessary details via that medium, to process your refund.

In line with the Government’s advice on reducing social contact following the ongoing Covid-19 emergency, the University of Strathclyde made the decision to close the Strathclyde Sport indefinitely as of Tuesday 17 March.

Strathclyde Sport would like to thank all members for their patience and understanding in what has been an unprecedented situation and assure you that all decisions have been made with the safety, health and wellbeing of our members and staff in mind.

Please be rest assured that the closure of the facility will not leave any of our members out of pocket. Highlighted below is how the closure will affect each membership category.

We would appreciate everyone’s understanding during these uncertain times that have forced changes to working practices that will impact on our ability to resolve this matter.

Through this period of closure, we will be providing support and resource to our members, allowing them to maintain a level of physical activity and wellbeing away from the facility. Please keep an eye on emails that will link you directly to exercise at home resources and our social media channels.

Direct Debit Memberships

Membership fees will be frozen automatically throughout the closure, so members do not need to take action on this. Monthly payments will not be taken until we are operational again.

As you have already paid for the full month of March, we acknowledge that you are due a refund for the period of closure 17-31 March. We will endeavour to process this as soon as possible.

Staff Payroll Memberships

Membership fees will be frozen automatically throughout the closure, so members do not need to take action on this. Monthly payments will not be taken until we are operational again.

As your membership is paid in arrears unfortunately there is no way to prevent full payment being taken from your salary at the end of March 2020.

However, please be assured that measures will be put in place to ensure that members are not out of pocket. We envisage that the 14-days of closure in March will be reflected in the first appropriate salary deduction once we re-open.

Student Annual, Semester 2 and Semester 2 + Summer Memberships

As your membership is paid in advance and is for a defined period of time, please be assured that measures have been put in place to ensure that members are not out of pocket for the period of closure.

The following two options will be made available:

· A pro-rata discount for length of time closed when purchasing new 2020/21 memberships.

· A pro-rata cash refund for those leaving University or not wishing to re-join.

As we are currently unaware of how long the length of closure period will be we are unable to give an exact value of the discount or refund at this time.

This will be able to be confirmed once we have resumed operating, and further correspondence on the process of receiving your discount or refund will be communicated once we have such information.
