Applying for accommodation
If you’re an ERASMUS student coming to us on exchange, you can apply for University accommodation using the integrated housing application form on Mobility Online.
There are three accommodation contract lengths available to Exchange students:
- Semester 1 only - September to January (17 weeks)
- Semester 2 only - January to June (22 weeks)
- Full academic year - September to June (39 weeks)
These contract lengths may not be changed.
Semester 1 only or the full academic year: Accommodation is allocated by ballot as unfortunately we cannot guarantee University accommodation for all. If you have special circumstances (for example, any medical issues) please give us details on your application and we can take this into consideration.
Semester 2 only: Accommodation is allocated by ballot as unfortunately we cannot guarantee University accommodation for all.
When will I find out if I have an offer of accommodation?
All applicants will be emailed the result of their application in July/August (for students coming for Semester 1) and in December (for students coming in Semester 2).
Successful students will be emailed an offer of accommodation. This will include detailed information about:
- how to formally accept the offer
- paying a £400 rent prepayment
- how to pay your rent
- arrival information, (when to arrive, where to pick up your keys and so on)
- what to bring with you
Unsuccessful students will be emailed helpful information about how to find alternative accommodation in the city.
You also have the option of renting private accommodation. All landlords letting properties must be registered with Glasgow City Council, (unless they are letting a room in their own home). Check on the Landlord Registration Scotland website and DO NOT pay money via the internet to anyone who is not registered.
