Life in residence - Euro exchange

"My experience living in the Strathclyde campus has been incredibly exciting. Having lived with my parents ever since I was born, coming to live on my own in the student halls of Strathclyde was exciting and scary at the same time. Now that my exchange year is coming to a conclusion, I can say that my time has been wonderful, and this is particularly because of the accommodation.

First, it was very easy to apply for a room in the campus, as I did it through the same online system I used to apply for Erasmus. Moreover, being offered a room in Birkbeck Court saved me all the time and the headaches to look for an accommodation in Glasgow while I was still at home. As I was living here I discovered that being in the campus provides you with such a vibrant and diverse environment where you can meet so many new friends, with so many different backgrounds… it can never get boring.

The flatmates I was allocated with have become my greatest friends and in general most of the people I’ve met were living in the campus like me. The location of the campus is excellent because you can find everything at a walking distance. Especially since I was coming to live in a city where I had never been before, knowing that I could just walk out of my flat and be in the city centre in 5 minutes or reach almost any interesting place in a very short time was really reassuring and stimulating.

I think Glasgow is a great city and the huge number of students living in the city provides you with an infinite chance to meet new people and do different things; however, I think that it was my life in Birkbeck that enhanced my experience and made it even better.

I would never change this with anything else and the only regret I have is that I can’t stay longer. And to anyone planning to come to stay in the campus, I can say: get ready for the best time of your life!"
