Why did you choose to study at Strathclyde?

I have a very demanding job with a lot of international travel which makes it difficult schedule a visit to the University to join classroom sessions. Strathclyde offered a great mix between distance learning and my busy work schedule.

What did you enjoy most about your course?

I enjoyed the practicality of the course. I was able to relate a lot of the course materials directly to my work environment which enhanced my learning experience.

What advice would you give to a prospective student coming to study your course?

Don’t underestimate the discipline that is required for distance learning however it is time very well spend.

What specialist knowledge/professional skills have you developed studying your course?

I developed a better view on the entire spectrum of health and safety, stepped out my comfort zone and gained skills and knowledge to become a better health and safety professional.

How is your course helping to enhance your current career and prepare you for your future career?

During my study time, the course helped me as a lot of the material was directly relating to my daily work activities. I gained a lot of knowledge as well as tips and tricks were to find information. Since I graduated I got a new job as Director Safety, Health & Environment Europe at Rentokil. My Master’s Degree definitely helped getting on the radar of the recruiter.

What are your ambitions for the future and how do you think your time at Strathclyde will help you achieve your goals?

My ambitions are to keep on developing myself and my time at Strathclyde will help me with that as I have seen the benefits of professional development at what it could bring me as a person. This course enriched me as a person both in professional as personal life.
