University Library

As a registered Centre for Lifelong Learning student, you may use the University Library. If you're registered on an Open Studies class (ie one which carries credit), you may apply for an External Borrower's card.

Students registered on non-credit classes may use the library's facilities but have read-only access and cannot borrow books.

To access the Library, take your registration letter or class receipt to the library and show it to the member of staff at the main entrance.

To apply for your External Borrower's card, take your Registration Letter to the Issue/Return Desk of the Library. Complete an External Borrower's application form. A Borrower's card will be available for collection three to four days later from the same office.

Language learning resources are also available for language students in the library.

University bookshop

Students attending language classes at the Centre will find the materials they need listed under Language materials .

Please note: Some classes either do not require a set textbook or in other cases the recommended title is listed in the class description within the brochure.

The material lists are in PDF format. If you're having issues opening your list please check you have Adobe Reader installed on your computer or you have the most up to date version. Download the latest version of Adobe Reader.

Ordering online.

Textbooks for your class may be ordered online and the 10% discount is applied at source along with free postage and packaging. You can access the ordering site from www.johnsmith.co.uk/strath/offers/6786/ .

In person.

If you do not have online access then the shop at Glasgow University is open (Mon-Fri 9.00-5.30), telephone 0141 334 8515. The shop is located on level one of the Fraser Building, University of Glasgow, 65 Hillhead St, Glasgow G12 8QF. Production of your class receipt entitles you to a 10% discount. The discount only applies to course books for your class.

It is strongly recommended that you telephone the Bookshop prior to visiting in order to confirm that the book you are looking to purchase is currently in stock.
