Chinese student Nian Liu is studying an undergraduate degree in Aero-Mechanical Engineering with us at Strathclyde. Find out more below about why Nian chose Strathclyde and what she enjoys most about being here.
Why did you choose to study at Strathclyde and how did you find out about the University?
Strathclyde is pretty well known for its largest engineering faculty in Scotland. Staff and senior students were very friendly during the open day, they all seemed to have a great passion in their field of studying, so that’s when I decided that Strathclyde is the university I would love to study at.
What do you enjoy most about your course?
The fact that the classes combine practical things and theories together, so we get to learn all the mechanics calculations as well as learning various manufacturing skills in workshops. The lecturers are very approachable as well, so if you have any questions they would always be there to help.
What do you enjoy most about living in Glasgow?
Transport is very convenient and the scenery is beautiful. There are lots of events going on to experience the Scottish culture as well.
What advice would you give to Chinese students thinking of coming to Strathclyde?
Don’t be nervous! Strathclyde has got a great atmosphere for studying and living, and don’t be afraid to ask if there’s anything you are not sure about!
What’s the best thing about studying at Strathclyde?
Good facilities, great relationships between lecturers and students. Staff are friendly and helpful, and the University just generally has a really great learning atmosphere.
