Tier 4 and Student visa holdersTransfers

You have been directed to this page because an Exam Board has made the decision to transfer you to a higher or lower level of course, or to a different course.    The following information will help you understand the next steps in relation to your University registration and protecting your UK immigration record.

TRANSFER UP – (e.g. BEng to MEng)

Congratulations!  This means you have been accepted to transfer to a higher level on your course of study. Your visa will not be long enough to complete your new course, please contact the Visa Compliance Team for further guidance. UKVI has limits on the amount of time students are permitted to study in the UK. You should contact us so that we can check you will remain within the time limits, and to ensure that you will be able to make a successful visa extension application to complete your studies.

TRANSFER DOWN – (e.g. MEng to BEng, PhD to MPhil)

This means you have been transferred to the lower level of degree/qualification of your course of study. Our Visa Compliance Team will email you with details of how this impacts your current visa.

TRANSFER DOWN and RE-ATTEND

This decision means that you are required to transfer down from your current course and transfer to a different course and re-attend the same year again in the next academic session.  Our Visa Compliance Team will email you with details of how this impacts your current visa.
