Underpinned by the University’s innovative, collaborative, and inclusive educational ethos, the Strathclyde Doctoral School is committed to enriching the student experience, intensifying research outputs and opportunities, and ensuring training is at the highest level.
The Strathclyde Doctoral School drives both strategic and operational developments that enhance the postgraduate researcher experience. Our mission is to create an environment where our research students can flourish.
Providing opportunities for interdisciplinary engagement, we promote a sense of PGR community. By delivering a framework of support, we encourage and enable appropriate progress monitoring and timely completions.
Our outstanding training and development opportunities prepare our students to become future research and business leaders. We recognise, celebrate, and value the contribution our postgraduate cohorts make to Strathclyde’s research delivery and overall international standing.
Our priorities include:
- delivering an outstanding research postgraduate student experience
- supporting research degree supervisors and supervisory teams
- building a student-centred interdisciplinary research environment
How we work
Strathclyde Doctoral School objectives are led and delivered by staff in Faculties and Professional Services. We work in partnership across organisational boundaries in small working groups and in consultation with student representatives from the Doctoral Researchers Group to ensure that our activities meet the needs of our postgraduate researchers and our institution.
