Overview
The Faculty of Humanities & Social Sciences is pleased to invite applications from excellent international students with original research proposals for the Dean’s Global Research Award for commencing study in October 2023. These awards will cover international tuition fees.Eligibility
You should have, or be expected to obtain, a first-class honours degree and/or a master’s degree with distinction.
IELTS Academic (minimum overall band score of 6.5 or higher for Education, gained within 2 years prior to commencing PhD study) or equivalent.

Further information
These awards are highly competitive for a limited number of places. The selection panel will view all complete applications submitted by the closing date.
Please ensure you have followed all the steps under “how to apply” and meet the eligibility criteria.
The selection panel will meet in April 2023, although final results may not be announced until May, in line with the AHRC and ESRC scholarship competitions.
The start date will be 1 October 2023.

- 1500-word research proposal
- A 2-page CV, including your academic achievements and any professional experience.
- Academic transcripts
- 2 Academic reference letters
- IELTS Academic (minimum overall band score of 6.5 or higher for Education, taken within 2 years prior to commencing PhD study) or equivalent, if English is not your first language
