STAR Scholarship

These STAR Scholarships are funded by generous donations from alumni and a number of external organisations to provide opportunities for undergraduate students from disadvantaged backgrounds to study at the University of Strathclyde.

  • Value £1,250 per annum payable from date scholarship awarded

  • Duration Typically 4 years, but may allow for 5 year courses


To be eligible for consideration for an award, candidates must be holding a conditional/unconditional offer of admission to an undergraduate degree course at the University of Strathclyde and:

  • be entering the University from a Scottish secondary school with a low number of pupils moving to HE, (view the list of eligible schools); or
  • be school leavers from an area where the applicants postcode falls within the Scottish Index of Multiple Deprivation (SIMD), classification MD20 Q1 (note applicants who fall under this category will be contacted directly).

The Head Teacher (or a designated member of school staff) is asked to provide a reference.

Care Experienced applicants will be contacted directly with information on our Strathclyde Cares support package.

Eligible applicants who also indicate that they are a carer/estranged will be prioritised.
