IET Power Academy

The Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET) is one of the world’s leading professional societies for the engineering and technology community. It manages a prestigious Awards Programme which rewards and celebrates excellence and innovation in academia, business and industry.

The Power Academy is one of the IET’s scholarship schemes offered to undergraduate students. It was established to address the looming skills shortage in the energy sector.

Eight leading UK universities and 16 key energy organisations are partners in the Power Academy which offers financial support, summer placements and workplace mentoring to students.

The Department of Electronic & Electrical Engineering is the only Department in Scotland included in the Power Academy.

BP Achievement Awards

BP is one of the largest global oil and gas producers. Its scholarships aim to recognise, reward and support academic excellence, and develop the next generation of engineering talent.

Only nine UK universities participate in its prestigious Scholarship Scheme with the Faculty of Engineering at Strathclyde being the only Scottish member.

Two types of scholarship opportunities are offered.

BP Scholarships

BP is one of the largest global oil and gas producers. The aim of BP scholarships are to recognise, reward and support academic excellence, and develop the next generation of engineering talent.

BP relies on talented and ambitious business & trading professionals, engineers and scientists. We are delighted to offer second year students at University of Strathclyde the chance to secure a scholarship that will support you for the duration of your science, engineering, management or economics degree.*

WHAT DOES IT MEAN TO BE A BP SCHOLAR?

Being a BP scholar will provide financial support of £3,000 per year, and much more. You’ll have unique opportunities to experience first-hand what we do – whether it’s using the latest technology to find oil and gas, building platforms in the ocean, developing low-carbon fuels and lubricants, working on the bustling trading floor or supporting the whole business through functions such as HR, Sales or Procurement.

You’ll be invited to join us for exclusive events and experiences and to meet BP employees who are currently or have recently been on our graduate and intern programmes.
If you’re interested in discovering even more, being a BP scholar will fast track you to an interview for an internship or graduate role later on in your degree.

Faculty of Engineering Excellence Scholarship (FEES)

Deadline:11 August 2019 Opens:15 November 2018

We have number of scholarships available for new self-funded, international (non-EU) fee paying students with excellent academic qualifications.

The scholarships are available if you've applied for a relevant course. You must also start your studies from September 2019, or later on in the 2019-20 academic year. Please note that students applying for the MSc in Civil Engineering with Industrial Placement with a January 2019 start date are also eligible to apply.
