Faculty of Engineering International Travel Bursary 2020/21

We understand that the COVID-19 pandemic and its effects has created particular challenges for international students who are planning to travel to Glasgow in order to resume or begin their studies with us in the Faculty of Engineering. 

To assist with this, in the Faculty of Engineering we are pleased to announce the launch of our new, dedicated Faculty of Engineering International Travel Bursary, which has been designed to support our international students with the cost of travelling to Glasgow during the 2020/21 session to resume or begin their studies with us.

Our International Travel Bursary is available to all eligible new or returning international undergraduate and postgraduate taught students. The bursary will provide a contribution for students towards air fares, visa fees, accommodation upon arrival (including any period of quarantine) and other incidental travel/arrival expenses.

  • Value £700 for returning students, and £1,000 for new students
  • Opens 1 July 2020
  • Deadline 31 January 2021

  • Duration One year bursary for the 2020/21 academic year

Eligibility

All full-time, self-funded, international (non-EU) fee-paying students at undergraduate and postgraduate taught level are eligible to receive a Faculty of Engineering International Travel Bursary for the 2020/21 academic year. This bursary is open for all returning international students, as well as new international students to the Faculty of Engineering. 

Important things to note:
  • All full-time, self-funded, international (non-EU) fee-paying students at undergraduate and postgraduate taught level are eligible to receive a Faculty of Engineering International Travel Bursary for the 2020/21 academic year only. 
  • Students may receive the Bursary in addition to other Faculty of Engineering scholarship awards (such as the Faculty of Engineering International Scholarships; Dean’s International Excellence Award; Dr Alex Ekwueme Scholarship).
  • Please note, there is no need to apply to receive this award; eligible students will be identified at the point of registration and contacted individually with further details on how to collect their award.
  • A form will be sent to eligible students following on campus registration, and following the return of this form payment will be arranged to a specified UK bank account.
  • This award is unique to students registered to study in the 2020/21 academic year, and bursaries cannot be deferred to future years of study.
