MSc Renewable Energy Systems and the Environment - SFC Funding

Renewable energy technologies are vital to the development and sustainable growth of the Scottish economy.  The Government remains committed to an overall renewable energy target of 30% by 2020, and to achieve this has established individual targets for renewable electricity, heat and transport.  It is widely recognised that the growing demand for highly skilled engineers in this industry, needs to be met in order to support this.

To address this demand, through support from the Scottish Funding Council (SFC), the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering has funded places available for its specialist postgraduate degree, MSc in Sustainable Engineering: Renewable Energy Systems and the Environment. The funded places are open to well qualified SCOTTISH and EU STUDENTS only.

Eligibility

  • Be of Scottish or European nationality
  • Already hold, or will gain by the 30 August, a good second class undergraduate degree in a relevant engineering of physical sciences degree.
  • Have submitted an application, and hold an offer for the MSc Sustainable Engineering: Renewable Energy Systems and the Environment
  • Be able to commence their MSc course in September 2017

Further Information

On the MSc course students will develop and enhance their technical expertise of renewable energy and deepen their understanding of the engineering, political and economic contexts. It will provide them with an advanced level of knowledge to address the current and future challenges of the exciting and dynamic energy sector. 

Students will be taught by academics internationally-renowned in the energy sector, have the opportunity to undertake real-world projects with Industry Engagement, Field Trips and Renewable Energy Site Visits

How to apply

If you are eligible for SFC Funding, and hold an offer for the MSc Sustainable Engineering: Renewable Energy Systems and the Environment commencing in September 2017, you will automatically be considered for an SFC Award.
