ScottishPower Engineering Excellence Scholarship

ScottishPower Retail & Generation employs over 3,500 people within the UK and brings a dynamic set of departments together under one umbrella, all with the desire to deliver outstanding service to our customers, including Generation, Sales, Customer Service, Marketing and Operations.

The Generation Business is responsible for delivering competitive energy from a generation portfolio consisting of coal, gas and hydro-electric power stations. We focus on optimising energy output, maximising efficiency and minimising environmental impacts.

The scholarship includes financial assistance and an opportunity for an industrial placement.   It is open to students within the departments of Civil & Environmental Engineering, Chemical & Process Engineering, Electronic & Electrical Engineering, and Mechanical & Aerospace Engineering.

The Faculty of Engineering’s Excellence Scholarship Programme was established to support its undergraduate students through all stages of their studies. Working in partnership with leading engineering organisations, the programme offers financial assistance, summer placements and workplace mentoring, to provide an innovative and supportive learning experience. These allow students to put theory into practice, and gain invaluable professional engineering skills to help and improve their employment prospects.

Recipients of this scholarship are not permitted to hold any other forms of financial support (e.g scholarships or tuition fee awards).

How to apply

Applications should be made in the third year of study and students will be informed of when and how to apply by their department. The application process will involve the completion of an application form for review by the company, after which selected applicants will be invited to interview.
