Spirit AeroSystems Scholarship

Applications are now invited for the Spirit AeroSystems Merit Scholarship. One scholarship award of £2,000 will be made per annum, up to a maximum of 4 years, from academic year 2021-2022.


The recipient will also have the opportunity to undertake a summer placement within the Engineering Function of Spirit AeroSystems, Prestwick, where you would work alongside professional engineers supporting current and emerging projects.

In its Prestwick, Scotland location, Spirit produces leading edge and trailing edge structures of the Airbus A320 family and wing structures for the Boeing 767.  The Prestwick site also has responsibility for the design and production of the leading edge structure of the Airbus A350 and has recently begun production of Airbus Spoilers, in a state of the art, automated manufacturing facility.

Eligibility

Second year students studying on MEng progammes in the Departments of

  • Design, Manufacture & Engineering Management
  • Mechanical & Aerospace Engineering

Applicants must be of UK domicile and hold a UK passport. Students cannot be in reciept of an additional industrial scholarship. Students must perform to a suitable academic level for the duration of their studies and failure to do so could result in the scholarship being terminated.

Following the closing date for applications, the Head of Department or their nominee from the Departments of Mechanical & Aerospace Engineering and Design, Manufacture & Engineering Management will recommend to Spirit AeroSystems the shortlisted selection of candidates. The candidates will be invited to interview and the final selection of the successful candidate will rest with a panel consisting of Spirit AeroSystems and University of Strathclyde representatives.

The successful candidate will be notified in November 2021. Scholarship awards will be paid to the successful candidate in December 2021.
