Erasmus Grants

When will I be paid?

You'll be paid 80% of your grant within 30 days of signing your grant agreement providing the University has received the necessary funds from the British Council.

In 2016/17, we are not expecting to receive these funds until mid September at the earliest. Therefore please make the necessary provisions to cover this delay.

The remaining 20% will be paid to you upon completion of all the necessary Erasmus+ paperwork required to fulfil your contractual obligations.

Why am I only being paid 80% of my grant and not 100%?

We only receive 80% of our grant from the British Council to pass on to you.  We do not have any other source from which to pay you and therefore we are unable to give you the full grant amount at the start of your exchange.

In addition, the actual length of your exchange (documented by your certificate of attendance) may be different from the length calculated from the dates on your Grant Agreement. The second payment of 20% allows us to make any adjustments.

When will I receive the remaining 20%?

You'll receive the second instalment once you have submitted the following documents to the Recruitment & International Office:

  • Certificate of Attendance
  • Traineeship Certificate (if applicable)
  • Proof of online feedback questionnaire completion (screenshot or email)

How much am I paid?

There are monthly grant rates that are set by the European Commission each year. Please see below for the 2016/17 rates. These are subject to change in subsequent years.
